nail pronlems -- taxol

Hi everyone,
I've read the posts on this board for several months since being dx (Aug 2003). I've learned so much and thanks.

I've been on weekly Taxol/Herceptin. Have been getting good results, not too many side effects.

I have, lately been having a real hard time with my nails. They are slightly discolored and my thumb nails and a few toenails are actually swollen.

Is this a side effect of Taxol? Does anyone have any experience with nail problems that they could share?

My mom was taxol months ago and had a horrible time with her nails. Her nail beds were swollen and they would get full of pus. The nails were also discolored too. Her nails are slowly growing back, despite all the horror nail problems the taxol helped.
