I only physically know 2 people besides myself that have breast caner. Both of them and myself have had weight problems most of our lives. I was just wondering how many women with breast cancer had weight problems growing up? Are their women who never had weight problems with breast cancer? This came to mind after posting the question about why no sugar and all the respones I got.

Hi Angela,
Boy, did your first question give me a BIG case of the guilts! Seems like I've been on a sugar binge since last fall, and I know I have to stop it. Biggest problem is at work where people keep all kinds of bad stuff on their desk for everyone to help themselves. But, to this question, I am 56 and have never had a weight problem, other than being too thin from time to time. I eat normal qtys of food, but have a terrible sweet tooth. Now I will approach that problem with renewed resolve!
Take care,
Jackie

Angela - never had a weight problem in my life but with both my pregnancies I did have gestational diabetes. wonder if there is a connection there. interesting concept!

Angela,
Was skinny as a rail until about 35 or so when the weight came on, 53 now. Always a sugar hound though. Sweets are my biggest downfall, even now.

Good question. No weight problem for me, even tho now my clothes are getting tight and it is more from lack of exercise and slowing of metabolism at age 54+.
I know dozens of women with brest cancer and very few of them are overweight - or ever were. The reason I know so many is that I have become active in Team Survivor Northwest and this is a group for the purpose of getting back and staying in shape. Based on the premise that a fit person has a better chance of beating their cancer. There are 'chapters' of Team Survivor in other states.
Even before my cancer I knew some 7 or 8 women (ALL younger than myself) who faced breast cancer and none were overweight. Know of only one women who had to fight two times that is still very large.
Hi, I didn't have a weight problem but I did have Glandular Fever, which is also being considered as a cause.

No weight problem for me either, until I turned 40. I was 115lbs at 5'8", then shot up to (oh my!!! 135lbs). Now on steroids and my fighting weight is a whopping 175lbs.
gotta laugh at that
