I don't think you need to be afraid of the transfusion. I had several when I had my stem cell replacement and only had one time when I had a small reaction (had cold chills??) But I do believe that they do need to find out why your counts have dropped so much without any chemo or surgery. How are your platelets? That comes from your bone marrow - but of course our bone marrow produces our cells so that is something to look into.
