Roll Call: Cost of Herceptin

Hi Ladies: I was just wondering after I read the post a few posts below what the variations in the cost of Herceptin are. I was in a clinical trial recieving herceptin once a week. The clinical trial nurse told me that it would have cost $750.00 per treatment out of the trial.
How does that amount sound to the rest of you?

I would say you are getting quite a bargain there. I just checked my insurance statement and they are submitting the grand total of $1,564.85 for my weekly herceptin. The insurance does not cover a portion of this but DOES pay $1,283.17. Ridiculous, isn't it????

Well my most recent statement shows that the hospital is billing $1800.00 for the Herceptin alone, $138.00 for the IV infusion and $22.00 for the mixing solution. The chemo nurses said that Herceptin is more expensive than some of the Chemos.

Hi Linda,
My clinic charges $1677 for 10mg of herceptin, which is more than the chemo drug I'm on. I do know that as many practices do, they buy drugs from the pharmaceuticals and resell to patients and that the drug costs supposedly have other operating expenses wrapped into them. That's probably why you will see variations among the responses to your question.

My doctor said that it would be $850 a treatment. That's here in Manhattan. All the best!

Weekly = approx $1,900.00 10mg alone
3-weekly = approx 4,200.00 40mg alone

I'm doing weekly, but I did 3-week once last month.

I know that my bill for once every three weeks is 7500.00///That is 675.00 for infusion, 125.00 for IV supplies and 6700.00 for the Herceptin...My insurance pays a certain amopunt as it is a PPO so the hospital accepts it...they pay around 5600.00.

Q 3 week herceptin is billed at 7200. Insurance pays about 3500. My husbands place of employment went bankrupt and we may loose our insurance, not sure what will happen then.
