View Full Version : Do Blood Results Tell All?

I have my 1st 3 month check up tomorrow. I went in a week ago for blood work. I wanted the dr to have the results in front of him tomorrow. Does the blood work always tell him if additional tests are needed? Has anyone had a dr order tests based on blood results?
Thanks - Hugs and Smiles,
Angela
IF you are sensitive to them, blood tests can tell quite a bit. There are several areas the doctor will be looking at. But doctors usually use them as one piece of the puzzle, in addition to tests, physical exams and how you're feeling. He/she will probably have tests in mind regardless of the outcome of your blood work, but could order further scans if the blood is too abnormal. Good luck.

Hi -
There are several blood tests often ordered. My 3-month would consist of Complete Blood Count, with liver and other analysis, such as calcium.
There would also be at least one,if not 2, tumor marker tests.
You are right to have them a week before your appt as some of these do not normally come back in one day.
You should have had a chest x-ray if you have not had one, as well as a baseline bone scan if you have not had that.
All the best - I see my med onc tomorrow as well.
