Dear All
I am now not having the operation for skin mets as the surgeon said it was too aggressive for now. So I will have yet another biopsy/excision and then today I will discuss chemo again. Still not sure if I should have been on navelbine for longer or if it is obvious after one round that it is not working.
My best chemo was doxerubicin/doxetaxol which I had pre-operative but i don't think you can do too much of this and wiht Herceptin.
love to all

Lindaw - have been on herceptin and taxotere since Nov. and skin mets do not appear to be improving. Had a PET scan today and have appmt with onc tomorrow so will be most curious to see what he says we do now. How long have you had your skin mets? What was your operation going to entail? HOpe you get some relief.

Hi there, have you tried Xeloda yet it worked on one lot of skin mets, then Navelbine got rid of another so I also wonder if I have used something once will it work again, I also seem to have a rash on a large lump that is being treated with Carboplatin and Herceptin, but not seen any change yet after only one dose, I get very impatient and want results fast, if it is any help I have been doing this since 1998, just like any computer game, just get there and something knocks me down again.

Dear Lynne

Gosh 1998 - that is a long time. How have you managed to do that - what choice I guess. The onc today has suggested xeloda next but first I will have biopsy/excision of bumps and then they will test them for her2 and er/pr again - in case they have changed. May have the op Thursday or next .

Dear Cathy

I have had recurring skin mets since last september.Have had little red marks and now little bumps. Have had taxol - 4months, navelbine 1 month and now perhaps navelbine.
I have been scanned each time and nothing else .
The big op was going to take all the skin( a4 size) and then fill cavity with fat from stomach ( positive thing about the op) and then do skin grafts. Very major and could be dodgy - skin met could occur just outside the area - imagine what that would be like and I have read a story on the ibc site of a lady which this happened too. How awful.
So biopsy/excision and new chemo seems to be the next step. Hope it works for a bit longer than 4 months.

Linda,
I hope you got everything settled at the doctor's today. Did you find out which chemo?
Hugs, Lolly

Dear lolly
Yes it will be xeloda the onc says. I have to wait until next Thursday to have the biopsy and see if it is skinmets( as if it isn't) and then the week after begin it. I don't like waiting this long but I will just have to rely on the herceptin I suppose.
