I just finished my 2nd cycle of herceptin and xeloda. I started getting diarrhea the last couple of days, but I wanted to finish it all because I was having a scan the next week. Wrong! I was taking stuff for it and I thought I was getting enough fluids but dehydration can happen so fast. Last Thur. my husband came home from work to find me laying across the bed not even dressed. He took my temp. and it was 103.6. He called the Dr. and of course they wanted me in the hospital, the one 50 miles away. I have no memory of that day which is a real blessing. My husband put me on the toilet and told me to stay while he got some clothes for me to wear. I guess I didn't and I got up only to fall on my face. He dressed me and I don't remember the 50 mile drive or the fact that he says I was vomiting in his coffee cup on the way down. When we got there my plastic surgeon must have been just leaving the hospital, she recognized us and took me in while my husband parked the car. Heres where the part starts that I'm so glad I don't remember. I guess I messed my pants while in the ER so they gave me some disposable ones and I messed them so they put another pair on me only to do the same thing. So by then I am pantyless. My hubby said I come out of the bathroom with poop running down my leg, the nurse says honey you need to go clean up and I go in and just smear it up my back. This time she takes me by the hand and cleans me up. They gave me some kind of anti nausea med that really made me loopy. I guess I was blowing bubbles in the cup of potassium that were trying to get me to drink. The ER Dr. said make sure she never gets that kind again. They end up having to take me to ICU because my blood pressure was so low and they wanted someone watching me around the clock. So they push me in my ER bed to the ICU floor and the young good looking guy ask if I need help transferring to the other bed. He bends down to help just as I do a flip and end up with my stinky old lady butt right in his face. LOL This is what my husband tells me. Sure glad I was out of it. My husband is a real sweety but his packing needs some work. He brings me red and black panties to wear in the hospital and you all know how your gown is open in the back. The nurses were teasing me about my red panties. I couldn"t say anything to him because did the best he knew how. This is Tue. and I'm still in the hospital, though finally out of ICU. I still have the diarrhea and I can't go home till it stops, but my husband brought me my lap top so I am happy. So ladies watch it if you start having diarrhea and maybe have some extra panties packed. Patty H
