AGAIN, HERCEPTIN AND PAIN

I WENT BACK AND READ THE PAIN AND HERCEPTIN COMMENTS AND I AM STILL BAFFELED BY MY PAIN. I HAD ALOT OF PAIN TOWARDS THE END OF CHEMO AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE TAXOTERE. I ENDED CHEMO ON MARCH 29. ALL PAIN HAS LEFT EXCEPT MY RIGHT LEG & INTO MY HIP. THEY HAVE DONE A BONE SCAN, NEG, YEAH! AND EEG, FOR NEUROPATHY, NEG, YEAH! BUT MY HANDS ARE SWOLLEN TO WHERE I CAN'T MAKE A FIST AND IN THE MORNING I AM CRUMPLED OVER LIKE A VERY OLD PERSON. MY FEET AND LEGS DON'T WANT TO BEND UNTIL I'VE USED THEM FOR A WHILE, THEY PUT ME ON BEXTA, 10MG DAILY, BUT AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS, STOMACH PROBLEMS WHICH I ALREADY HAVE IBS. ARE THESE THE SAME SYMPTOMS YOU HAD WHEN YOU RESPONDED WITH USING GLUTAMINE AND B6, MY ONC GIVES ME NO ADVICE, JUST TO SEE A PAIN SPECIALIST AND THEY RAN TESTS, NOTHING. MY BOTTOM EYELASHES ARE JUST NOW FALLING OUT, I AM ON HERCEPTIN EVERY 3 WEEKS. ANY OTHER THOUGHTS, I WILL TRY THE GLUT AND B6. THANK YOU FOR ANY OTHER IDEAS. KRISTEN

I am having the same pains that you are! I talked with dr about it and she said there is a "sydrome" they are now studying with the arthritis type pains after taxanes. I even had lupus testing because mine was so bad and my grandmother had it so i'm at a higher risk. It all came back neg too. The dr said this sydrome can last anywhere from now to a year after tx. She told me it DOES eventually go away. I'm taking celebrex now for it. Bextra is in the class as celebrex. The one good thing about these drugs that they could help with breast cancer. I think more in hormone positive, but who knows? I've tried to stretch my body every day and try to do yoga. It has helped alot. I was hurting really bad a month ago and now i am better! The dr really stressed to me it DOES go away!! So keep your spirits up!! I am on herceptin now also. But she thinks it really was from the taxol.
