I am sooooo sorry that I did not make it clear that I had made up a hypothetical just so that I could make a point to my doctor. I chose 4 out of 10 because it is definitely NOT a statistic that our doctors would think would be relevant in the medical professional scheme of things....in fact, it is pretty damn good, if you think about it, right? I mean, we were told that herceptin is effective in 3.33 out of 10 cases. So, if it turned out that it was INeffective in 4 out of 10 cases, we would be happy little breast campers, wouldn't we? THAT is why I chose that PRETEND (I repeat, PRETEND) statistic.
