I'm a bit confused since many people talk about an initial triple dose of herceptin ("loading" dose). When the nurse explained my wifes upcoming gemzar/herceptin she indicated that the herceptin would be triple time but only 2x the drug amount. Makes sense to me but I wanted to make sure.

Thanks,
Eric

It was explained to me that if you'll be taking Herceptin every 3 weeks, the loading dose is a different amount than if you'll be taking it weekly.
Maybe therein lies the confusion.

Love and light,

I, too, was getting it weekly for my mets. The loading dose took longer AND was a larger amount than the regular weekly dose. They also want to slow down the infusion to watch for any reaction to herceptin the first time. My nurse did not sit with me, but my husband did and the nurse checked about every 5 minutes or had someone else look in on me.
All the best for your wife's successful battle!
