I tried in my post below to look at Life with Cancer from the view I had as newly diagnosed as well as my current perception.
As for the so-called "life cycle" of boards, I see the posts from newly diagnosed, looking for trials, as a way that more women are using this board to ask and answer questions and find out what others in their situations are doing.
It augments the whole with the replies from women around the world who are seeking information or have something to add to the knowledge base.
The responses that include trial results are also very helpful.
I just had a chat with a woman who had not been informed by her med onc what the implications are for her HER2 status. She had only been told that it is more aggressive, and not that there was any special new drug to help combat it. She had even been allowed to choose radiation ONLY by this guy! She said he "typed her tumor biology into his computer and it came back recommending chemo." He did not explain WHY!
Now she has a LOT more to think about and question him on after her talk with me. I had the trials to tell her about as well as my own experiences. She will take it from here, but is now on the right path.
