Hi ladies,

I just had surgery for an underarm tumor yesterday. The surgeon said there's little doubt that it is cancer. I had originally had a bi-lateral mastectomy in 2001, did 4 rounds of AC/taxol, 33 radiation, and had a decent year before a neck node popped up. Now the doctor said that there is a small lesion on my lung and one on my liver (ct scan). I'm so worried that I don't know what to do. I'm not her2+ so herceptin isn't an option. Have any of you had any treatments that were successful when nothing else seemed to be working? I must add that this underarm tumor popped up while I was taking my third round of xeloda/navelbine. I didn't know tumors were chemo resistant. I don't know where to turn.

thanks and hugs,

shelley

Are you taking any of the hormone inhibitors such as Arimedex. Maybe some of the hormone positive gals will have some advice about this aspect of treatment. I am normone neg.

There is an arm of the clinical trial for GW572016 where you don't have to be HER2+++.
This drug is in phase III and has been fast tracked by the FDA.
