I join Audrey and Trudy (thread below) in announcing good news for my case. I am over two years off chemo (second time) and almost 4 years since original dx.
"I just cannot find anything wrong with you," stated Dr. L., wearing a grin from ear to ear. Scan was clean except for the same very small spot in my liver (all that is left of two quite large and numerous more small tumors) that has just sat there and remained the same for over a year. He does not see any reason to do anything like ablation as that area was neg on my last PET scan.
So, I continue to be the flag bearer of my last clinical trial. My onc also said he attributes my success with hard-to-treat mets to being maintained on Herceptin. (Do I hear a "Rah! Rah!"?) Reported that some of the gals from my trial who have to depend only on hormone suppressors are coming back with new mets.
No scan scheduled for another 6 months, and that suits me just fine! Onc says he wants to continue with scans as a way to confirm what the tumor markers tell us. I'm all for that, until a better blood test is put into practice.
