Hi Ladies (and Gents!) -
In an earlier string we touched on the dosages we get and wondered if it is the same for those with mets on chemo and what the subsequent maintenance dose would be.
I had my infusions today and checked my chart with my nurse.
While on the trial to fight mets my dose of Herceptin was a weekly amount of 2mg/kg (2 milligrams per kilogram). For my weight that was 124mg (I think my onc fudged my weight just a bit to give me a little more).
Since getting off chemo 2 years ago, I have been getting the 3 week dose, which is 6mg/kg. That is essentially the same as 3 times the one week dose (360 - 380 mg per dose).
Everyone else should have about the same dose. I imagine those getting Herceptin in the adjuvent setting are getting the same - 2mg/kg.
P.S. I had my 6 month abdominal scan today. See my med onc on Thursday afternoon and EXPECT good news! This is the longest we have gone between scans since my mets were discovered in Jan 2001. At the moment no other scans planned, but I WILL find a reason to have another brain MRI sometime early next year. By now, I have learned to control my nerves and jitters about scan results. But, that has taken 2 years being NED!
