Told ya some time ago that I was hoping to attend the Olympics in Athens. (I come from a family of strong sports spectators.... my brother just came back from watching the Tour of France.)
Honestly at first, I decided to drop it, due to many things going on in the month of Aug.
But during my recent weeklong vacation, I just could not get the Olympics out of my mind. I then realized that it has been a lifetime dream of mine. I am always telling myself that I'll go one day. I wish I had gotten to either Barcelona Olympics or Atlanta -- they were really cool games -- but for the life of me, I don't know why I never did anything about it! If I had to guess, I was probably "ball-chained" to work, cuz I used to be a workaholic.
Anyway, I did some research on the Olympics and it's highly possible that I could go. I just made plans today that I will be meeting with my mom tomorrow (part of the trip expenses will be my Xmas/b-day combo gift from my parents), as we need to be in the same room when she'll be phoning my cousin in Portugal (I don't have her phone number and I don't know Portuguese, though my cousin can speak conversational English). My family is just too nervous, if I travelled alone. So, my cousin Alberta is willing to travel with me -- fortunately she has the travel bug! :-)
Sorry if I am working you up, but I just can't contain my excitement! :-) Well, if this doesn't work out though, I made a new promise to myself that if no Olympics for me, then next year I'll go to one of those ice skating or gymnastics competitions somewhere else. I think there is ice skating national championships up in Portland, OR early next year, I'm a big Michelle Kwan & Ryan Jahnke fan....
Wish me luck!!!!
