I was 27 when first dx. I am 5'5'' and I weighed 115 at the time. I was NEVER that weight in my life, I was the healthiest and strongest I have ever been (or ever will be!). I was on a low fat diet, exercised daily (ran 3 miles a day and weight trained). I was diagnosed 6 months into that program. Seems like a cause/effect to me! Then again, there are no rules to cancer!!!!

In the early years, it was believed that exercise might be a significant factor in preventing from cancer, but now it has become a very controversial topic over the past few years. For one, my breast surgeon doesn't agree about the exercise / weight factor; she said that it has turned into more of a personal opinion. I have yet to ask my onc on this, though.

As for myself, I haven't formed a solid opinion on this yet. I believe that we had a discussion about this some time ago, and some ladies here had gotten cancer and/or recurrences at their best weight (lightest, not heaviest).
