It has been ages since I have been here. I don't work in the summer, so I haven't been on the computer. The good news is I am NED after my stem cell transplant. I have a PET-CT two weeks ago and am in the clear. God is good!

Hi Staci -
Refresh our memories. Were you NED prior to your stem cell trans? Wasn't this a trial of some kind to try a less harsh kind of transplant??
Some more details would be interesting to those of us who might be looking at something like this in the future. WAs this at M.D. Anderson?
Thanks and glad to hear from you!

My stem cell was done in Corpus Christi, at an M.D. Anderson Outreach Clinic (Spohn Hospital). My doctor is on staff with M.D. He is the best! I did the stem cell after completing 8 cycles of Adriamycin and Taxol for liver mets. I had the liver mets removed with RFA, so I guess you could say I was NED going into the transplant. My transplact followed the original protocol of chemo drugs. It was probably easier to get through becuase of new drugs to treat the symptoms. Many doctors think they don't do transplants for breast cancer....but they do. My insurance has been great about paying for it! Hope this helps.

Thanks, Staci -
I did not recall that you had liver mets and RFA. Glad it all worked out so well for you - that is very encouraging.
