I want to thank Lolly, Lisa, Steph, Lauren and all the others, whom I hope are not offended by me not mentioning you by name, for responding to my posts for your continued support. Our hearts are with all of you as you continue on your battle to beat this thing. It is hard to imagine that it was Oct 31/03 when Linda was dx and how time has gone by.
I started posting when Linda was on death's doorstep and owe alot to everyone who has read and replied to my posts. In particular, I would like to thank Joe and Christine for having the vision to start this site and committing so much time to maintain it.
Linda saw her consulting Oncologist in Toronto yesterday and the news was all good. The bone mets have disappeared, the liver scan showed "poorly defined diffuse nodules" and many areas of liver regeneration. The Navelbine / herceptine combo has been hard on her system but the plan is to reduce the Navelbine to 3X / mo. instead of 4, hopefully giving her marrow a better chance at recovery. She will continue on this regime for the next 3 months and the probably go on straight Herceptine after that.
Linda asked the Oncologist what she thought of her progress so far and how many patients have rsponded as well. The oncologist replied that this was nothing short of a miracle and she would have never expected this turn-around. I remember when I first brought Linda in, asking the Oncologist in private, "how long?" I was told, "maybe this week". As for how many other patients have rsponded as well: the oncologist shook her head and rplied that she really couldn't really recall but not too many. A lot of fight for someone who is 5'-2 and 117 pounds.
We asked about adding a third drug to the regime to hasten the process. The Oncologist replied that there was no proof that adding a third chemical would not help anything except for doing more damage to her low blood counts. Of interest, she said that there is no evidence that the navilbine is doing all the damage and it could be the herceptine alone, or a combination of both.
We must remain confident in the experts however; the information and ammunition provided on this site will keep us informed and educated and them honest.
Many thanks from Al and Linda and let's keep the battle going!

Al,

Navelbine was very hard on me, too. Was anything decided about an MRI brain scan? Or did the onc say anything else about the muscle issues?

Your message was love. Pure love.

Love and light,

Lisa

I can't begin to tell you how much hope you have given my sister. I called and read her the post..she too was given months to live in April. I pray that she will respond as well to her treatment..so far so good.
