My little Brittany, NED, is now 6 months old with the longest legs you can imagine. His legs are as long as his body. And what spirit for life he has!! He bounds everywhere he goes!! He is sleeping in our bedroom now, so he has graduated! Little children are wonderful, but what an awesome responsibility to raise a little one. That is why I am so glad for NED. I donÃâ€*t have to help him to grow up to be somebody!! He is always going to be my baby!! He makes me laugh out loud every single day! And it has been said ôA merry heart doeth good like a medicine!ö
I know that we all become sad sometimes. We have a lot of fear and then the treatments wear us out and become discouraging. That is why it is so important to find a way to make joy a permanent fixture in our life. For me, joy is spelled NED (in a couple ways now)!! It may help us all to sit down and find something that is accessible to us that we call PURE JOY. A place or a child or a pet or a friend or a book or a journal or a hobby!! Be sure to know what it is so that you know where to find it when you really need it. Your oasis.
We cannot escape the road that we have been asked to walk. You young ones have come here way too soon, in my humble opinion. (How I wish someone had asked for it!!) But you know, life is a journey with a purpose. Life is a character builder. We are becoming who we need to be. If you have met someone in their 80Ãâ€*s, someone you admire, because of their wisdom or peace or kindness or humility and hoped that you would be like that when you get old, you would quickly find out that they got that way through a life that was way less than charmed. I bet they would tell you that their best times turned out to be the painful ones, because it was then that they learned the life lessons that made them someone we want to get to know. Unfortunately, while we are being forged into pure gold, we cannot imagine how this furnace could be for our good.
Have you ever met a rich spoiled girl, with straight teeth, a doting husband, big house and car, money to spare, great healthy body with a personal trainer. I donÃâ€*t think it is just jealousy on my part (!) but I havenÃâ€*t found too many of those that I wanted to get to know real well. They wouldnÃâ€*t be able to identify with the ôtroubles IÃâ€*ve seenö! Now you girls, on the other hand, I would love to know you in person and call you my friend. You have so much to offer me in wisdom and compassion and hope.
This may be a feeble attempt, but I just want you all to know that since we have come this far, our lives say something to the world. We have tenacity and hope and enduring qualities forged out right here in this place that the world needs to know. They need our stories to give them courage and hope in their trial. Most people need an answer somewhere along the way.
As for me, because I believe my life is wrapped up in GodÃâ€*s love, I donÃâ€*t have to depend on myself to fight this battle. God is renewing my spirit day by day, even as the outer man is deteriorating. It is my inner man that lives forever, so if my troubles renew me where I really LIVE, then I am glad for it.
God bless you girls. My heart always goes out to all of you. Hugs, Lola
