What are METS?

I'm new to all this terminology. I keep reading about METS (skin METS, etc). What are METS?

Hi Beverly: Sorry your family is having to go through this...METS is the abriviation for metastisis. A metastisis is when the cancer has spread from the original site to other ares such as lymph nodes, bone, lung. etc. Another abriviation you may not be aware of is NED. This is something we all strive for ... no evidence of disease. Take Care, Linda

Thank you for the answer!! Actually, I have heard of NED. I've read some refer to it as 'Club NED'. I like that!! I look forward to my mother getting that news.
