I am wondering if it is better for my sister to switch to Herceptin/Navelbine and not add Xeloda. It is obvious that combinations don't work forever...women need to switch to other combinations once side effects become too much, or tumors are no longer shrinking. Situations such as my sister's, when NED isn't necessarily in the near future. Given this fact, I'm wondering if she should hold off on the xeloda in case she needs it later. I know it's a very personal decision, one that only she can make, but I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on this.
Always thankful,
Celina

My doctor wanted to put me on Xeloda and Navelbine with Herceptin and I decided not to take the Navelbine. I got over a year of regression on the Xeloda/Herceptin regimen. I still have Navelbine to use at some point. For now I am on Doxil and it seems to be working well!
Good luck to her.

Celina, I think it makes sense, control and containmen are decent goals and I believe it's even possible to reach NED in that way, just remember the tortise and the hare, "slow and steady wins the race"! As long as her response is able to be measured.
