Zumba Fitness and Breast Cancer Benefit

Hello Everyone,

If you should happen to find yourself in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Area on Friday, July 31st, there is a Zumba fitness Master Class. The proceeds from ticket sales benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The event will be on Federal Street and will take place before the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team plays. Beto is throwing out the first pitch ! I will be taking the Masters class and doing Zumba along with 3 other breast cancer survivors on stage with Beto (The guy that invented Zumba)

I take the class 2-3 times a week and have found that it REALLY helps keep my head on straight. I will also be interviewed on the Pittsburgh Today show that week to promote this event and talk about BC. I am planning on talking about being Her 2+ and stressing the importance of early detection.

Anyone have any pearls of wisdom that I might be able to talk about in the interview ? (Yes I am nervous about that !! )

Sending Love to All

I live too far away from Pittsburgh, but it sounds like fun!

I started taking Zumba classes this past winter and I am having a great time. I have some back issues from the cancer and I am probably the most uncoordinated participant in the class (remember when they were teaching Baby to dance in the movie "Dirty Dancing"? That's me!). However, it gives me a chance to laugh (mostly at myself) at least 3 times a week and the added bonus is that I've lost 15 pounds since I started in February! If you are healthy enough to try Zumba, go for it! You do not have to be a dancer (eventually, you will get all the moves).

I don't know if this link will work, but for someone who doesn't know Zumba, it looks like fun! (And hard work. I think I'll stick with my new Tai Chi class.)
