Just wanted to say that here in the misty forest of the Northwest any clinic worth their salt WAS testing for Her2 in 2000. At that time there were several clinical trials going just for Her2 pos patients.
My first path test included Her2 testing postive +++ and hormone -.
I entered a trial where I was given 12 doses of Adriamycin weekly with Neupogin therapy. AFter that round I had four doses of Taxotere. This was also a trial. So, the hunt was on for new drugs, dosing and frequency to try and increase survival of Her2 positive patients.
There was ALSO a trial with Herceptin, but I did not want to chance being in the arm not getting it and my med onc said I would get it the moment any progression was discovered. I got Herceptin on the very day they were confirmed.
