certain type yoga for after treatment??

I was watching the doc. "1 a minute" and someone on there mentioned a certain type of yoga devised to specifically help w/ the fatigue after treatment. But I didn't catch what it was called - do remember it started w/ an "N" ???

Anyone familiar with this? Has yoga helped w/ fatigue? I saw an article (while trying to search for this) that talked about a study that it helped w/ the menopause symtoms in early-stage BC survivors. (Decreased severity of hot flashes)

I'll keep searching, but thought I'd check here to see what your thoughts are! Thanks! :-)

Re: certain type yoga for after treatment??

There is a 'Navasana' listed in this link (need to wait a while for the pictures to load):

http://www.yogacards.com/Yoga-postures.html

Do watch for potential harms of rigid postures. I went to a Yoga class about 6 months after my bilateral mastectomy. 3 sessions later, I made an appointment with my oncologist because I thought I felt something painful below my ribs.

My oncologist instructed me to turn different ways on the examine table and determined that I was suffering from 'diastasis recti' - the recti muscles above my navel were already tight after the mastectomy and the yoga poses further stretched it.

There are yoga instructors certified to work with cancer patients. You may look to see if someone in your area has this specialty.

I don't know of any type of yoga specific to survivors, but it makes sense that yoga would help with fatigue, because you'd be increasing the level of oxygen going into your body if you practiced on a regular basis. Also, having a limber body helps us to feel less fatigued. Good luck!
