When I was 31 yrs. old I was diagnosed with Stage 3b bc. the tumor was infultrating my skin on my left breast. It was visual. The surgeon who first saw me knew immediately that it was bc. My girlfriend was the pathologist and she confided in me that the Dr. thought I would live only 18 months. The reason she told me that is because I was crying that I was going to lose my hair. Well not to tempt fate but it has been over four years (not w/o reoccurances). I have had brain mets twice and have been NED for almost 2 years and since finding this website plan to start Herceptin. I am her2+++, er/pr+. Christina may have saved my life. So when someone tells you how long they have my question for them is where is thier crystal ball?

I was 35 years old when I was first diagnosed w/bc. They did not do the her 2 testing then so I have no idea if the reoccurrance I had last Feb/04 was the same cancer. I have bone mets to my pelvis, spine , ribs, and mediastynime. I had kidney stones Nov/04, which can be caused by hypercalcium, caused by the bone mets. I went 10 years without symptoms and 12 1/2 without reoccurance diagnosis. I like to think that if I can go that long between diagnosis, I have a good shot at NED with the right treatment plan. Blessings, Lu Ann.
