Sheryl Crow underwent successful minimally invasive surgery for breast cancer on Wednesday February 22nd. Her doctors confirm her prognosis as excellent and she will receive radiation treatment as a precaution.

With much regret, she must postpone her complete tour of North America which was scheduled for March/April.

It is Sheryl's intention to reschedule as much of the tour as reasonably possible. Specific details will follow shortly. I wonder if she's HER2 positive?

That's what i was wondering. they say she caught it early, but we all know if one is Her2 pos then just radiation might be enough!! I wish there was some way to contact her and tell her our stories!!

Actually, I am pretty sure she has DCIS and with this diagnosis, they do not worry about Her2 status. It is 100% curable and they usually treat with lumpectomy or mastectomy (if DCIS is widespread) and follow up with rads and estrogen blockers. This is what my mom had.

However isn't most dcis her2+ and er/pr -. I thought that is what I read?

Yes, you are correct, most DCIS is Her2+++ but they don't worry about the Her2 status until it becomes invasive cancer, IDC.

Or too much too soon? After seeing a documentary on the lifestyle of Lance and Cheryl and their custom villa in Spain with all the perfect spaces for her writing, ect., I have to wonder what she was exposed to earlier in life that could have contributed to her cancer??? She had become a fitness wunderkind and supposedly was at the top of her form only a few months ago.
But the cancer was brewing.
How long does cancer take? They say up to 5 and 10 years from the first little mutation that the body does not catch to some event that causes a diagnosis.
AS long as we understand the above statement, it makes it a little easier to accept what is happening to us. Not much we could do about it, except to change what we could not.
I recall a thread here a couple of years back asking for weight and fitness level at DX. It was amazing what a seemingly healthy bunch we were! Seems that stress was one of the common risk factors in that we were a bunch of women who were the caretakers and fearless ones in our families.

So many questions about this pernicious disease...
