Unhappy Mastectomy problems...

Hi, I recently had a prophylactic R.mast. after having a L. mast. 5cm lobular tumor w/her2+ and erpr+ 7pos. nodes removed about 6 months previous. I had no problems with the first mastectomy. I felt that the 2nd would be the same and was done to make me feel balanced and less worried about another "missed" tumor. I have some fluid collecting now on this second one. I have to return to teaching pottery next week and will be careful but still concerned about doing too much too soon. Anyone have suggestions? My Onc seems contradictory at times! Thanks...

Kim,

Having fluid after mastec is expected norm. The fluid will gradually taper off. You probably forgot having this problem during the first go around.

You should do well and your decision is a courageous sign that you will conquor the enemy.

Where around the N.C. mountain do you live? I am also in NC.
