Hello everyone, I am so glad that this thread is still going. I have just had a read over right from the first post. I am feeling sad to see how many we have lost since then, but also buoyed by how many of us are still here.
I am currently NED, and have been this time around for around 20 months. On Herceptin only.

Can’t give self injections on to tablets (Xarelto) for blood clots.

Adding myself to this thread. I am just getting ready for my third round of THP. I have found the Taxotere a bit more difficult to tolerate this time around. When I had my first treatment as Stage II, I was able to work. Not so much, this time. I just filed for STD. I'm having a rough time with that, I am a workaholic and I identify myself through my work. I'm looking forward to being able to get back to work soon but I assume that will be once I am done with the taxotere. The only problem with that is my oncologist said this treatment is indefinite. For those of you who have had THP, how long did you stay on taxotere for?

Hi Tracy,
so sorry you're back in this club... no one needs this. Not sure whetehr you heard back on your question elsewhere, but I had 6 cycles of Taxotere, Herceptin and Perjeta (at I believe 80% for the latter 3 cycles). Since then I am on H+P only - so far stable. Scans coming up next week, though... We'll see what that brings.
Maybe ask for a dose reduction if it's really bad? My onc back then said it's approximation anyway, and going down to 80% will not influence the outcome of treatment...
Hope you're making it thru Taxotere ok...

Lung mets since July, 2015. Been on many different chemos for skin mets but lung mets are really deteriorating my quality of life. Not sure what I'll be on next...

12/14 finished 33 radiations burnt and very painful. Bedridden for 1 week

Stopped at 30 due to severe skin burn, resumed 10 days later
05/15 red patches appeared in between previously radiated area, skin mets. Ct and brain Mri clear. Simulation planned, radiation to start after trip to Alaska.
05/24 new spot identified in scar line on previously radiated reconstructed breast- electron on both side chest wall area and scar line
07/15 multiple skin and lung recurrence begin halaven
11/15 cough much better but very tired on halaven and starting to see some new red skin blotches-suspicious
11/15 heading to China for immune therapy

Six months after herception treatment, lung mets. Aug. 25, 2015. Will finish chemo Jan 8, 2016. Spots all gone, but will be on herception for the rest of my life, every 21 days using IVs.

I was on Herceptin for the rest of my life in 1998.
It was brand new, fast tracked by FDA made available 1 mnth after my recurrence throughout my liver.
I did 9 mnths of Taxotere (2 mnths in I added Herceptin). With a pleural effusion and peri cardial effusion, I could barely walk or talk above a whisper. Did just Herceptin -- for 10 yrs.
Have been off since 2008.
Still here.
Did 3 yrs of weekly Herceptin. Then switched to triple the dosage every 3 wks.
Doable.

'95 post-meno dx Invasive LOBULAR w/9cm tumor! YIKES + 2/21 nodes. Clear mammo 10 mnths earlier. Mastec/tram flap reconst/PORT/8 mnths chemo (4Adria/8CMF). Borderline ER/PR. Tamoxifen 2 yrs. Felt BLESSED. I could walk and talk, feed and bathe myself! I KNEW I would survive...
'98 -- multiple mets to liver. HER2+ 80%. ER/PR- Raging, highly aggressive tumors spreading fast. New PORT. 9 mnths Taxotere Fought fire w/fire! Pronounced in cautious remission 5/99. Taxotere weekly for 6 wks, 2 wks off -- for 9 mnths. TALK ABOUT GRUELING! (I believe they've altered that protocol since those days -- sure hope so!!)
+ good old Vit H wkly for 1st 3 yrs, then triple dosage ev 3 wks for 7 yrs more... The "easy" chemo, right?! Not a walk in the park, but not a freight train coming at 'ya either...
Added Herceptin Nov '98 (6 wks after FDA fast-tracked it for met bc). Stayed w/Vit H till July '08! Now I AM FREE! Humbly and eternally grateful for this life-saving drug! NED since '99 and planning on keeping it that way. To hell w/poor prognosis and nasty stats! STOPPED VIT H JULY '08...! REMAIN STABLE... Eternally grateful...Yes is a world & in this world of yes live (skillfully curled) all worlds ... (e e cummings) EVERY DAY I BEAT MY PREVIOUS RECORD FOR # OF CONSECUTIVE DAYS I'VE STAYED ALIVE. Just wanted to say I am still around.
I started out a little over 4 years ago at stage IV with mets to liver. Did Taxotere, Carboplatin and Herceptin which worked super and cleared those mets. Cancer came back on me, 5 tumors in the brain. WBR and a Cyberknife procedure, and I have been NED for about a year now.

Diagnosed in October 2011 Stage IV with metastasis to liver.
January 2012 after double mastectomy, started taxotere, carboplatin and herceptin.
Clear.
December 2012 was diagnosed with five brain mets, and had whole brain radiation.
Around July 2014 two mets in brain, one a residual spot and one new one growing in size. Received Cyberknife on both areas
Clear/NED
April 2015 remain NED

That's rather sad what happened with you to share the same title of stage 4 fighter.
There are plenty of us fighting including me. Like what you mentioned, there are many success stories which always give me hope and energy to fight.

May 2014: started Taxotexe & Tratuzumap (either Herceptin or Herculis, being a part of Mylan research)
Oct 2014, 3: finished 8 cycles of Taxotere & Tratuzumap
Oct 2014, 24: only Tratuzumap every 3 weeks
Jul 2015: progress in bladder - operation and keep on Tratuzumap
Dec 2015: progress in bladder still & met to ovaries

Jackie, I am so sorry to hear this. I have a pet scan coming up Feb. 9, and dreading what it might show. My breast cancer from the right breast, went to my lungs last
Aug. I just finished chemo, and had just Perjeta and herception the 25 of Jan. Will be on Herception for life, not sure how long perjeta will stay. I am having different symptoms and am dreading the scan results. Tired already of the running back an forth as I have a heart eco the 8, pet scan the 9, treatment the 15 and meet the onc. afterwards. Some days I want to just stay in bed. Prayers being said Jackie.

I'm so sorry to hear about your latest setback. It seems that you have dealt with so many health issues throughout the years. It just doesn't seem fair. However, rather than being bitter you seem to be handling this as a true warrior. I admire you. I don't think that I could be as strong.

Sorry to hear this Jackie! However, as someone living well after 4 years with bone and liver mets, I am sure you can deal with what is in store. After so many health related problems, you certainly have the courage to face this new one.

3/12: began on Marianne trial - T-DM1 + Pertuzamab/Placebo.
5/12:Unexpected development of numerous bilateral liver mets. Came off trial.
Started Docetaxol/ Herceptin + Zometa.
8/12:Bones stable +major regression in liver (!)
9/12:Can't take any more Docetaxol! Start on Herceptin and Tamoxifen. Cross fingers!
Changed to Denosumab.
11/12: Scan shows stable - yay!
11/13: Still stable :-) !!!
1/16: All stable, but lowered calcium, so switched to Zometa 3 monthly.
2/19: Happily still stable on Herceptin, Letrozole and 3 monthly Zometa.

dx Dec 2000 dcis 2.5cm clear sentinel node, ER/PR- Her-2+
lumpectomy, 6 cycles AC, 6 weeks rads
October 2007 three x 2.5cm lung mets. 8 months Taxol, started Herceptin and continue. Significant reduction in lung mets.
June 2011 3cm x 4cm liver tumour. Started Abraxane and continue with Herceptin.
November 2011. Finished with Abraxane, continue with just Herceptin. Liver tumour now reduced to 15mm x 12mm. Lung tumour now 10mm x 0.5mm
February 2012. Scans show everything stable, and brain scan clear.
July 2012. PET/CT scans show I'm in remission - no active cancer!
]Dec CT brain cllear, lungs stable, liver tumour has increased to 20mm. PET scans showed active liver met and active lung thinglet, and possible bone met.
Jan 2013 recommence Abraxane, continue with Herceptin.
June 2013 finish Cycle 6 Abraxane, continue with Herceptin. 30% reduction in liver tumour, everything stable.
December 2013. CA15-3 on rise.
February 2014. PET and CT scans show single liver tumour has increased to 35mm. No other activity.
March 2014. Planned for SBRT for liver met, but couldn't have treatment as tumour too close to bowel. Continue Herceptin.
April 2014. Surgeon advises that I am a good candidate for liver resection, so will have operation early May (after camping holiday). Tumour now 44mm x 29mm.
May 7, 2014. Two liver tumours surgically removed. Third of liver removed, and gall bladder. Am I NED?May 2014. Pathology of tumour shows it's now ER+ (95% staining).
June 2014. CA15-3 has decreased to 18 from a pre-surgery reading of 59!
June 2014. Started Femara, continue with Herceptin.
July 2014. Stop Femara due to severe Osteoporosis. Commence Tamoxifen, continue Herceptin. Waiting to hear if I can have Aclasta infusion.
August 2014. CA15-3 has decreased further to 12 - YAY!
October 2014. Aclasta infusion for Osteoporosis. November 2014, CA15-3 decreased to 11. Scans of liver all clear, something new showing up on lung, but just watching at the moment.
November 2015. Started SBRT on solitary lung met.
November 2015. Bone density scan showed very good improvement so back on Femara - yay!
December 2016. 6 treatments of SBRT radiation on lung. Seems to have had some effect.
June 2016. CA15-3 still stable and low at 9.
June 2016. Started subcutaneous Herceptin replacing infusion.
Jan 2017. LVEF dropped to 46%. Stopped Herceptin.
Feb 2017. Started ACE Inhibitor and BETA Blocker. Still off Herceptin.
Aug 2017. Two new mets - Portacaval lymph node and mediastinal lymph node.
Aug 2017. Blood tests show extremely elevated liver enzyme levels. Many tests to investigate.
Sept 2017. Portacaval lymph node blocking liver bile duct causing liver enzyme and Bilirubin problems.
Oct 2017. 8cm stent inserted into liver bile duct. Procedure caused pancreatitis, and hospitalised for 3 days. Liver enzymes improving rapidly.
Nov 2017. Commenced 4 weeks of radiation on Portacaval lymph node. 5 week break before chemo.
Jan 2018. CT scan. 11 new small liver mets, and new superclavical lymph node med.
Jan 2018. Start Kadcyla. CA15-3 426.
Apr 2018. First scans since starting Kadcyla. All tumours reducing. CA15-3 dropped to 30 from 426.
Dec 2019. Still on Kadcyla, but two small brain mets have been treated in the past month with SRS. CA15-3 stable for 12 months at 11.

Aw Jackie. At least you didn't let symptoms go by as they seemed vague and not that concerning. Make sure it is not just the appendix that is giving you a problem. Also make sure it is not a new primary versus mets if that is the path you are going down. I am thinking about you and have all fingers crossed.

Stage IV since October 2013, initial diagnosis: right breast 6-7 nodes including node above clavicle, and a lesion on liver. 6 cycles THP with a result of COMPLETE pathological response. Continue vitamin H and P every three weeks and remain NED. My life is full and busy with swimming, cycling, skiing, snowshoeing, yoga, new grand baby on the way....so much to live for, amen.

And thanks for everyone's encouragement, I really needed it. The Chinese New year is coming up soon (Feb. 8th is New year's Day for the Year of the Monkey) and the tradition is not to say unlucky words nor to share bad news during at least the first three days of the new year. I had called my 2nd Sister yesterday morning and she's not going to share the news with my other siblings (all of them are living in Taiwan) until after the 10th.
Will see the GI doctor to have the CT result evaluated Monday. Looking back, I'd had some irritations in the liver area for at least a year. But we just thought it was caused by the hepatic hemangioma ...

Jackie, its not easy road but a road we CAN make it down. Believe you will be ok, the mind is a very powerful thing! Besides the traditional chemo and targeted therapies I have used acupuncture, meditation and visualization along with lots of exercise and solid nutrition. I am not perfect but I try to be better. I know some of the people who read this may not agree but I read the book Radical Remission and it was a bright light during a dark time for me.
