Getting one more thing checked

About the only thing I haven't had so far, is a brain MRI.
I went to my GP Thursday and told her I'd been having some headaches, dizziness and a few times when I lost my balance, so she ordered an MRI.
I have to wait and make sure the insurance will cover it, although it shouldn't be a problem.
I told her I was concerned because of Herceptin not protecting the brain, and she agreed that it would be best to check it out and know for sure if it's clear. Then I can begin to get back to a somewhat normal life.
I had told her some time ago about having trouble with speaking and she told me that possibility had been on her mind back then. The first step then was to try a SSRI and that seemed to help a lot. Now we want to cover all the bases.
I'm trying to get involved with helping other CA patients I meet, by telling tell about our local cancer association, and giving them them the literature they need to contact them.
I've also been asked to be on a committee and help /call line for BC local patients. Something we've sorely needed.

Dear Brenda

You mention wanting to help other cancer patients. I am getting my refresher Reach to Recovery next Saturday. Reach to Recovery is the
American Cancer Society's counseling program. We do telephone, in person and hospital visits of women who are newly diagnosed (primarily) but those who also just need to talk. Another way to help is to be trained to do the Look Good, Feel Better program. Call ACS to find out more.

Becky, I just read about a beauty shop in the next town that's setting up to have Look Good, Feel Better sessions. I don't know that that's in my field, they are looking for beautitions, but I may contact them.
Right now I'm thrilled to have a few things being started up at the local level.
When I was first dx'ed, the closest support group was 50 miles away.
