help!

Hi there,
The school where I teach is doing a "Relay for Life". The purpose of the event is to raise awareness, remember those who have lost their lives to cancer, celebrate the survivors and raise money for cancer research.
I have been asked to provide something for the "kick off" assembly on Monday...talk about short notice!!
Does anyone have a suggestion? I'm looking for anything such as poems, songs, pictures, video...would anyone be interested in writing a short story that I could share?

Cancer is so limited-

It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendships
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit .

Here is a couple taken from a calender from my support group.

I do not carry a weapon
I have not gone to war
Yet my battles are the toughest
of any fought so far.

Some bravery is measured
by medals they may give
But nothing really can compare
to that courageous fight to live.

For those who fight this battle
for those who stand close by
For those who've won
and those who will
and those who no more cry.

It's for all us many women
who've been pushed into this rink
That I proudly wear this honor
my medal....a ribbon of pink.
