Results to FISH was unsuccessful--this happens less then 2% of the time.

I am broken hearted to read your post. You and Caryn have put up such an admirable fight all this time. Your love is radiant. We can all see it and feel it. It is palpable. And beautiful. You have been her rock and I know you will continue to be till the very end. You are quite a man. It is an honor to know you.
I remain full of prayers for Caryn and for you, and of course for your children. I wish I could find the words to express what is in my heart, but they are unspeakable.
I wish comfort for Caryn's pain, and am still open to a passing miracle. Just can't ever give up. It's in my DNA I think. If only I had a suggestion, but loving prayers are all I have to offer. '98 -- multiple mets to liver. HER2+ 80%. ER/PR- Raging, highly aggressive tumors spreading fast. New PORT. 9 mnths Taxotere Fought fire w/fire! Pronounced in cautious remission 5/99. Taxotere weekly for 6 wks, 2 wks off -- for 9 mnths. TALK ABOUT GRUELING! (I believe they've altered that protocol since those days -- sure hope so!!)
+ good old Vit H wkly for 1st 3 yrs, then triple dosage ev 3 wks for 7 yrs more... The "easy" chemo, right?! Not a walk in the park, but not a freight train coming at 'ya either...
Added Herceptin Nov '98 (6 wks after FDA fast-tracked it for met bc). Stayed w/Vit H till July '08! Now I AM FREE! Humbly and eternally grateful for this life-saving drug! NED since '99 and planning on keeping it that way. To hell w/poor prognosis and nasty stats! STOPPED VIT H JULY '08...! REMAIN STABLE... My heart aches for you and your family. These are certainly difficult times.
Caryn is so fortunate to have a husband that feels she meant the world to him. I am sure you've told Caryn this but you'd be surprised how often us women love to hear such beautiful thoughts again, and again, and again.
Have you walked through a list of all the wonderful things the two have you have accomplished together? Beautiful children, funny moments, sad moments where you were there for each other, adventures you took together.
While pursuing the latest in treatments is important...reminding ourselves of our good works can also be good medicine.
Just a thought along with other positive thoughts coming your way.....Love, Lori

Chinese believe that husband and wife meet each other based on the encounters in their previous life. The ending of life does not end the relationship since it could continue into the next life.
The love you've shared with Caryn will never 'die'. It will stay with you, with your children, and with all of us who have witnessed it in the past years.

Yes, yes! The Soul lives on. It passes on, to the Spiritual Realm. It is eternal. Even the death of a one's body does not mean a person is gone. Their story goes on, on a different plane. And one day, you will be together again. The end is not the end. It is a pause (brief in the scheme of Time).
I find that comforting. And I believe it with all my heart.

My dear Eric and family,
Your love for each other has been and will continue to be your refuge, your strength and your hope. I am broken-hearted to learn of this news, though I know Caryn will always be there with you..she will never leave you, not even for an instant. I write this through tears as I cry out for a miracle for your family.
I am there beside you, along with everyone here, holding your hand and whispering prayers for Caryn's comfort.
Your love has carried you through many journeys and it will carry you through this one.

Diagnosed stage 2b in July 2003 (2.3 cm, HER2+, ER-/PR-, 7+ nodes). Treated with mastectomy (with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction), AC + T/Herceptin (off label). Cancer advanced to lung in Jan. 2007 (1 cm nodule). Started Herceptin every 3 weeks. Lung wedge resection April 2007. Cancer recurred in lung April 2008. RFA of lung in August 2008. 2nd annual brain MRI in Oct. 2008 discovered 2.6 cm cystic tumor in left frontal lobe. Craniotomy Oct. 2008 (ER-/PR-/HER2-) followed by targeted radiation (IMRT). Coughing up blood Feb. 2009. Thoractomy July 2009 to cut out fungal ball of common soil fungus (aspergillus) that grew in the RFA cavity (most likely inhaled while gardening). No cancer, only fungus. Removal of tiny melanoma from upper left arm, plus sentinel lymph node biopsy in Feb. 2016. Guardant Health liquid biopsy in Feb. 2016 showed mutations in 4 subtypes of TP53. Repeat of Guardant Health biopsy in Jana. 2021 showed 3 TP53 mutations, BRCA1 mutation and CHEK2 mutation. Invitae genetic testing showed negative for all of these. Living with MBC since 2007. Stopped Herceptin Hylecta (injection) treatment in March 2020. Recent 2021 annual CT of chest, abdomen and pelvis and annual brain MRI showed NED. Praying for NED forever!!

PTEN positive, "late" Herceptin (26 months after chemo)
Oct 05: Actonel for osteopenia from Arimidex.
May 08: Replaced Actonel with Zometa . Taking every 6
months.
