Hi -
Your wife is a lucky woman to have such a caring husband who is advocating for her.
Regarding stats on mets/recurrance with HER-2 positive cancers there were some posts a few pages back. There are some links that were added to messages that had some good information.
One of the probelms is that many of us are outliving the last studies published and new numbers are not compiled and out yet that include some of the new therapies (as well as OTHER than Herceptin).
The oncologists in the past mostly waited for us to get a new round of cancer before ordering Herceptin, but now many are more amenable and the insurance will often pay.
My case really called for Herceptin and I knew it, but was unable to get it till mets. I gladly take it now and have no active disease!
Means that the chemo combo worked to knock oiut my liver mets. I am one of the lucky ones in this regard.
Go for it - it could save a lot of trouble for you in the future!
