Plasma coenzyme Q10 levels and postmenopausal breast cancer risk

I posted this in the Breast Cancer Meeting Highlights Forum, but thought those reading this forum would also want to see it: http://www.abstractsonline.com/Plan/...5F41EE8117E%7d

Wink Re: Plasma coenzyme Q10 levels and postmenopausal breast cancer risk

this is really interesting! It is the first contraindication that Q10 is not good for cancer prevention etc. I have posted a number of articles in the past few years about Q10 and personally have used it for that time. I know it drives my markers down if I take 300 mg a day..but this keeps me awake so 200 mg is what I usually take.

It is probably important for people who are on Q10 not to stop it suddenly if they decide to come off it. Reduce the dose gradually over a few days.

However it has such a good effect on the LVEF and the heart as well as general support for the immune system that I wouldn't be too hasty in coming off it. there are many studies that support its good effects; just search this site.

Re: Plasma coenzyme Q10 levels and postmenopausal breast cancer risk

Thanks for sharing this, Hopeful. It is very interesting as most studies have been positive in favor of Co-Q 10 use in breast cancer especially for cardio protection. There has been controversy in its use with chemotherapy because it is a strong antioxidant. It will be interesting to see more research on this area.

Re: Plasma coenzyme Q10 levels and postmenopausal breast cancer risk

I'm not sure the study has proved anything since it does not seem to be a controlled one. Could it be that most women who are taking Co-Q 10 are the ones already have got breast cancer? Why would anyone take Co-Q 10 if she is not at risk of getting/already have breast cancer? I myself did not pay any attention to anything like this until I'd had recurrence. Then I bought Co-Q 10 and other supplements. But then my stomach didn't like them... (because chemo had destroyed the necessary bacteria in my stomach)
