ketogenic diet and blood glucose

Okay, this doesn't make sense to me! If cancer uses glucose as its primary food source, then how on earth does the keto diet help with cancer? The keto diet usually increases blood glucose! Cancer doesn't care about the ketones....since it can't use ketones. But cancer does care about glucose, so increased glucose should HELP cancer grow not kill it regardless of the level of ketones.

My background is Organic and Biochemistry so these questions are ones that I just can't overlook! Help anyone?
