Re: New to the Group

Tracie,

I am having the exact same treatment plan as you are. I just got done with the AC part of it, and it wasn't that bad. I am now scared of the next part--the taxol and herceptin, although people say that AC is worse. I think the fear is of the unknown more than anything else. Right now I am dreading sitting in the chemo chair for 5-6 hours while they monitor me for any "reaction". I am also divorced and not looking forward to spending that night alone at home...

Re: New to the Group

Hi Tracie -- I agree cancer sucks. It's a mean and vicious foe and we have to fight it with everything we and the doctors can provide. There are many people who have done well with treatment and with Herceptin, they have been able to stave off the cancer from returning or progressing. There is hope and take heart that many people have been in your shoes and are here to provide support, prayers, and understanding. Best wishes as you move forward in your treatment.

Hi Tracie Just read your post. Yes it certainly is all overwhelming when you are first diagnosed. It leaves you stunned that you really cant believe how this could happen to you. As you can see by my med info I had two lumpectomies, radiation, bilateral mastectomy chemo and have just finished the herceptin. I look back now at all that stuff and I can hardly remember all the details it just seemed to progress so quickly. I think I would call those times "the eye of the storm" that feeling just came to be now as I write this. By I must tell you as I am coming up to two years NED I am feeling so much calmer, stronger and in some strange way content. I know I have done all I can for this situation and I will continue to be as positive and strong as I can, live each day one step at a time and we will get through this. I wish you peace and love.
