Talking brain mets update from IL

For those of you who have been kind and responded to all my inquiries regarding my Mom, she had a really good report from Mayo clinic yesterday.

Background: Brain mets in frontal lobe and several small spots in cerebellum (balance area) in Nov, WBR NOv and Gamma Knife in Feb. Beginning of April balance troubles. Had MRI in IL no new mets.

Yesterday's MRI showed all mets shrinking. No swelling. No seisures. No stroke.

Balance issues according to Neurologist who performed Gamma prob just effects from rads. Oncologist wants her to improve her diet (imagine that) and continue physical therapy to improve muscle strength.

All cancer in breast and bone STILL stable with no growth. Zometa from once every month to every other month.

Smiling here in IL. It has been a long month I know it can always be worse.

She meets with pain management specialist today to try and get this darn bone mets pain she has been dealing with for almost 2 years. She is very sensitive to pain meds and has tried lots of options but I think they finally have found the right combo!

Have a great day.
Staying strong and hopeful,
Kim G

Talking Re: brain mets update from IL

Kim!
What great news!
This the kind of news I've been hoping to read about your Mom.
You must be over the moon!
Thrilled!
Floating on air!
I sure would be!

Love all that shrinkage and stability news! Woo hoo!

On the other hand...I know how debilitating bone pain can be. And when it wears on and on like hers has...she must be exhausted physically, mentally, and spiritually.

I wonder...is it possible to consult a pain specialist? Until recently, I didn't even know there were doctors who specialized in pain management. I saw one when my back pain was at its peak, and nothing the other docs tried had any affect on the pain. Wow! What a difference when they called in the pain expert! It might be worth a try.

Sending a giant hug, and lots of love your way!
And, please give my best regards to your Mom too!
Denise
