breast implant changes on radiation side

Hi, I am wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom on breast implants, 2 years out. My right (cancer) side that was radiated seems to feel puffy on the side of the breast. It seems when I move my arm up and down, my inner upper arm grazes the side of the breast. I don't recall noticing this before. I have been on steroids for sciatic in my leg...and I have gained about 4 pounds, so I don't know if it the result of weight gain or not. It also seems that maybe my breast implant has shifted over just a bit, but I am not sure. Has anyone experienced a slight shift in the breast implant on the radiation side, or puffiness 2 years out? Thank you in advance for any thoughts on this.

Re: breast implant changes on radiation side

I am so sorry that you are having problems. It sounds like it seems to have shifted on you. Yes, this unfortunately can happen and it happened to me. I had to have my radiated side implant repositioned and Alloderm added to secure the pocket better. Having implants with radiation isn't done very often anyway due to high failure rates and problems and this is one of them. I've been ok for years now but I wanted you to know that it can happen but it also can be corrected. I made absolutely sure that I didn't lift heavy things (which was hard not picking up my baby girl). I was very careful until the tissue completely healed and I had nice absorbtion of the Alloderm. Again so sorry! I would make an appointment with your PC and see what can be done.Hugs ~ Ruth
