Cool Joanie Long

Hi all - My name is joanie long. I am a two and one-half year breast cancer
survivor with IDC, Stage 2, Grade 2, ER Positive, PR Negative, HER 2++ 6.3, age 69 when diagnosed. Two lumpectomies one week apart because the margins
were not clear, and the second time margins were slim. Spider-like tumor right up against chest wall. Tumor size 8 mm, 9 lymph nodes negative. Treatment:
7 weeks radiation followed by a 5-yrs of Arimidex.

Is there anyone reading this that has a similar situation, and if so, would you be
so kind as to share information?

Also, have any of you had Herceptin or other therapy added to your treatment
after a year or more into Arimidex only treatment???

Thanks to all of you in advance. Joanie

In case you have not found it there is a search facility. Click on search on the purple bar and enter the terms of interest.

There have been a few posts looking at herceptin and aromatase inhibitors including arimidex. I am no expert so there is no point me trying to paraphrase them.

Here is one I found using the search facility to start you off

Joanie;

I am wondering why you did not have any chemo? It seems to be that with a problem getting clean margins chemo would have been useful as a sort of mop up. Also, I would expect anyone with her2+ disease to get herceptin for a period of time. My situation is not the same as yours but chemo coupled with herceptin, radiation and then arimidex would seem to me to be pretty standard. Others who have a more similar situation can comment better perhaps. Having said all this as a two and one half year survivor your treatment seems to be working well. Wishing all the very best,

Cathy
