signs of recurrence?

My mom is experiencing some tenderness/pain at the site of mastectomy(1/05) incision. Can this correlate with recurrence or is it typically a muscle/nerve thing? She will be examined this Thursday with a mammo immmediately after. I am still hoping she canget an MRI on her remaining breast.

Honestly everything hurt after my surgery but the doctors should be checking everything out.
Also be sure she gets some physical therapy for her arm to avoid lymphodema and learns to do exercises for it at home.
good luck

Hi,

I had mastec 09/05 and experienced the same pain after 2 month. The surgeon examined the area and assured me this was quite normal. Gradually the pain disappeared. I am fine now. The important thing to be sure of is that the margin must be totally clear. You should check the post operation path report.
