Any stage 3 people are participating in vaccine trials? If so any body is concurrently recieving Herceptin while on vaccine trail?
I am recieving Herceptin for a year which will end in feb/06. But just getting worried and wants to try everything possible now to avoid the recurrence so that I can be there for my little ones.

Thanks

Julie

I'm stage 3 and looking into vaccine trials. But I believe you have to be done with herceptin first. So I'm waiting another 2 months....

Hi Julie,

I was diagnosed IIIB! I would like to participate in the PA trial (look at my post's on the clinical trial messageboard). I wrote to Dr. Peoples who is conducting the trial. At the present time, you cant take Herceptin at the same time. You have to stop 2 weeks before you start the trial. He has filed with the FDA to use both Herceptin and the Vaccine together. However, God only knows when he will get approval.

I am currently going through radiation and taking Herceptin. When radiation is complete I will ask my Oncologist how long I will stay on Herceptin.

Kim and Rose,

Thanks for replying. I finished my radiation today. I am not sure whether Herceptin is working for me or not, but decided to be on that the full period (one year). I want to participate in the vaccine trial so much but feel helpless becuase of their eligibility criteria i.e concurrent usage of Herceptin, hope they approve it soon

Hi Julie,
The Washington (Seattle) Vaccine trial allows the concurrent use of herceptin.
Regards,
Al

Really Al? Which trial? They told me I'd have to be done with herceptin when I e-mailed Patty about it.

I thought you had to be stage IV for the Seattle vaccine.
