second opinion

My wife's friend was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. Her present oncologist has told her that there is nothing more that can be done and she should have her port removed. she has received some chemo but i don't know to many details. We would like her to go for a second opinion. Does anyone know an onc in the new york area that works with inflammatory breast cancer thanks

Depends on what you mean by New York - NYC? Go to Memorial Sloan Kettering. Try to see Dr. Clifford Hudis there. Or Dr. Larry Norton.

doug, please see an article whose abstract I just posted on the main board

It describes biomarkers predicting efficacy of tykerb in IBC (you didn't say what treatments your friend's wife has had so far...)

2nd opinion

My wife has IBC and if they removed the port and her Onc told her there was nothing else to do, I would have her butt at MD Anderson

IMO>second opinion for sure. Do not let one doctor decide her fate. Best luck to your wife's friend, I'll be thinking about her and sending prayers.>>Believe51
