Tell me it's nothing....

Had CT scans following chemo, surgery and rads. Brain and abdomen are clear. Chest had two tiny spots:

"Ill-defined subpleural nodules" 2mm each, one on each side. I guess this is not technically lungs but underneath them.

Too small for a PET to pick up, so I guess I'm just waiting to see if they grow on a rescan? Onc assures me he thinks it will turn out to be nothing but no way to know until a few months go by. I think this is why they don't do routine scans. But if it is something, it's gotta be better to catch it when it's so small.

Any thoughts or experiences from you ladies would be appreciated.

I've had nodules on lung since 2000 (before breast cancer in 2006), picked up on CT scan. Radiologist told me a large percentage of adults have nodules. Mine haven't grown since then so assumption is benign and I'm assuming yours will be benign as well. Of course, I have regular yearly scans to make sure.

Please don't worry--it's too stressful.

Could be nothing. My brother has nodules as well and after initial scans they think they are nothing, just a consequence of growing older. So have follow up scans, but stay positive. BB

Dear Cary,
After my bc dx I also had scans and like you was told I had a small 4mm
nodule on my right lung. This was in 4/05...I have been tracking this
nodule since then with regular scans and thank the good Lord nothing
has changed. The status has remained the same. I just had a 6month
scan on Tues. and I am waiting for the results. I hope this will help
you to feel better. Just do the regular checks ups to keep track but
I am sure you will find the same results. I do believe after this last
6 month scan in 2 yrs. that the dr. will now move me up to one yr.

Nodules are pretty common from what I've been told, environmental factors can play a part. Just keep track of them with PET scans to see if they change, and try not to worry yourself sick over it. I know it's hard to sit and wait. BTW, you little girl is lovely, I love the pic of you two..sherryg

I was told tha I have multiple 5mm nodules in periferal lower lung lobes. This was detected on an abdominal CT. Since then the Dr. has just been tracking them and they have remained the same.I was also told that many adults have them and as long as they remain stable there is no roblem. It did scare me though because they were'nt detected with scans before treatment. Hang in there.

I also have what the doctor called a 'pulmonary pimple' that showed up on a PET scan when I had rib pain. Oncologist told me he sees no reason to follow it with regular scans. I know it's frightening, but don't forget those scans show up the tiniest imperfections in our body. THe PET scan also showed a small gall stone. I'm more worried about that than the pimple.
