Although many of us are cautioned to be careful regarding HRT, even HRT with bio-identical alternatives, our freedon to choose which therapy we might want when appropriate is being threatened:
A large pharmaceutical company which makes traditional hormone replacement medication filed a Citizen's Petition with the Food and Drug Administration(FDA) asking the FDA to impose restrictions on the compounding and dispensing of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy(BHRT). BHRT drugs are identical to what the body produces, whereas the estrogen in traditional HRT products is derived from the urine of pregnant horses.
Health care providers can customize dosing of different natural estrogens, progesterone and testosterone into a prescription that can be delivered as an oral capasule, a cream or drops for under the tongue...."

Time is of the essence; in order to block the petition, there must be 20,000 comments sent to the FDA by April 4, 2006.
