Another suggestion for new comers and others like me

I am a lurker and a once in awhile poster. For people who are new comers to this group, they are getting a crash course on cancer and searching for information. Even though I am approaching my 3 year mark (YEAH!!), I still do not know what all the abbrevations stand for. Is there a way to post a button or menu that list what each abbreviation stands for?

Sorry for the bold, but for some reason it will not let me type any other way. The only time I yelled was the YEAH!! part!!!

Naturaleigh,
I love your signature. You are right so often we post with abbievations. When I was new I would just out right ask. Please do the same.

For my new thread today, NED, means no evidence of disease. I will edit the thread explaining that.

This is what we need. We want everyone to understand and feel comfortable on the site. Thanks for letting us know.

Tell me more about that cute pup! And congrats on the almost 3 year mark. Please join in when you are comfortable. I also understand if you want to be a lurker, thats okay too!

Donna
PS ignore the bold. We all see that and then when you post it is not in bold.

We reposted the abbreviation list as an announcement at the top of each forum.

Go Joe, I had forgotten about the abbreviation list at the top of each forum.
Just looked at it again and it is very helpful.

You are the best and think of everything.

About my signature

That is my buddy, Boone. I found him in 2005 when I went to take my nephew to pick strawberries. I went late in the evening and got to the strawberry field just as they were closing. Since my nephew had never been to a strawberry patch I asked permission to just go and walk around for a minute. As we were heading to the fields I saw these two children picking up the precious puppy, taking turns throwing him on the ground and then falling on top of him. After the child got off the puppy, the puppy would sit up with its tongue hanging out and panting heavily. I asked the mother who's puppy it was and she replied that "someone had abandonded the #&#$ thing and it needed to keep away from her strawberries". I went to the owner of the field and he told me that someone is going around poisoning dogs so hopefully that is what will happened to this one too.

As you can see, I snagged him up and he is the best thing that could have ever happened to me. He is the one that makes sure I get a daily walk and does not complain that is it shorter than before I was diagnosed. Whoever abandoned this precious dog has no idea what they had. The saddest part is, whoever did abandon him will never know the pleasures and rewards that a dog brings into ones life. He is the best, smartest and most loyal dog I have ever had the pleasure of living with. I know the Lord was watching out for the both of us, he is the reason I keep going.

Hi Anita,
What an amazing story. Sounds like you and Boone are both lucky. Isn't it amazing how God works sometime!

I am a dog lover. Hard not to have a dog now, but going through treatment with the distance I traveled it would have been difficult.

So give Boone a hug from me and maybe a treat! Each time I have a strawberry I will think of you and Boone !

Have a good day.

Awww Anita...I loved that story. Your little Boone looks a lot like our little Hondo. Our Hondo is a bi-black sheltie and looks very similiar to Boone. Hondo's face is all black too but he does have what's called a "milk mouth" - right under his chin, is a little tuff of white.

Anyway, I love dogs too - well, me and my husband both too. When I was reading the part where the kids where dropping Boone on the ground it just broke my heart.

I'm happy God saw fit to bring you and Boone together too. There is nothing greater than the love of your animal.

Thanks for sharing that special story....

God's Continued blessings to you and Boone...

Mary Jo

P.S. I'll post Hondo's picture (as my avatar) so you can see our little 1 year old Hondo.

Thanks everyone:

Thanks for letting me tell Boone's story!!

Joe, Thanks for the infor about the abbreviations, that is such a BIG help!!

Marejo, I love the picture of your little Hondo. What a unique name!! His face does remind me of Boone's.

Boone is part Border Collie and he tries to herd me all the time!! He was 3 months old when I found him and has not lost one bit of his puppy energy!! His favorite thing is going places, I hope to take him to Boone NC this winter to play in the snow!!

Donna, I will and do give him lots of hugs and kisses. They are always for everyone on this site. He is so passionate: he always holds my hand while in the car or has to be touching me all the time! I absolutely LOVE it!!

Chilly is a pure bred White German Shephard, so add her to the list of herding dogs.

She has so much fun herding our two cats!

What a great story about Boone. What is wrong with people allowing children to be abusive and thinking poisoning is acceptable method to get rid of a dog. What are they thinking...there are places called shelters that will euthanize the dog if they're not adopted. Not a great ending but much better than torture!

Anyways...You rescued Boone and he has rescued you.

I have a rescued Aussie from being dragged behind a truck by some smart #&* kids. His tongue lacerated and lost some teeth but what a good little guy and my lifeline during chemo and cancer journey.

Hope everyone has a happy fourth of July celebration.
