I never had an LP, but if I had to I suppose I would. It could be because I never had bone or spinal mets. In some cases it helps the ONC to get a better picture on how extensive the metastases progressed. It offers a back-up to those who are either doing very well or otherwise. When we look at brain mets in combination with bone mets, PL will help to give the Onc a better more conclusive result. I should also note that if a spinal tap proves + TREATMENT IS AVAILABLE.
