Oh great...."atypical" moles?!!!

Hi everyone,
I had my yearly skin check at the dermatologist today (because I have about 300,000 moles and freckles)...and she decided two of them needed to be biopsied! I'm trying to just stay calm, but I must admit, I'm a little anxious about it. This on top of the fact that I have a check up with my oncologist next week that I always get nervous about.

Re: Oh great...."atypical" moles?!!!

300,000 is ALOT of moles!! Seems likely that a few might not conform! Sounds like you have a very thorough doctor who wants to stay on top of things
Try to remember the concept of staying in today and not borrowing trouble until further notice. It's not easy to do, I know. Of course everything gets magnified around check up time too. Keep the faith

Gqmom...
You kicked stage 2 BC to the curb! A couple of renegade moles don't stand a chance...even if they do end up being problematic! I mean really! Think of who they decided to mess with!!

Keep calm and carry on...my gut's on your side...100%!
Keep us posted!

Re: Oh great...."atypical" moles?!!!

gqmom,

Glad your doctor is being cautious. Hope the result will be good. Our excellent auto mechanic friend was diagnosed with melanoma while a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He's been NED forever and 'extreme grouchiness' is the only side effect!

Sending you good vibes...

Re: Oh great...."atypical" moles?!!!

I had a spot on my leg biopsied too about eighteen months ago. It was Bowens disease which can turn to cancer so had PDT treatment and have been fine so far. Skin lesions can be serious so we need to have them checked when they appear, good luck and hope yours is nothing serious.
