Tip Toe2

Hello everyone I hope this post finds you all doing well. I posted a thread on here almost 2 years ago about sending another Tip Toe off. But shortly after my post I got a right wrist drop and was unable to do so. Some of you might remember and for those who don’t know “Tip Toe” is a Chinese Hamster Beanie Baby and is/was a mascot for this website as the Miracle drug Herceptin is derived from Chinese Hamster ovaries. I found my Tip Toe today and would love to start this back up in loving Memory of my Mother Sheila. If anyone is interested message me and I will send her to you she will come with a journal and photo album I mail everything to you and you take pics to put in photo album and write about all the fun she had with you in her journal and then you mail her off to the next her2support.org member who wants to participate. I can’t wait to hear from YOU and get Tip Toe#2 on her journey!!

Aug 18, 2013: MRI report says Left breast is perfectly healthy "consistent with previous studies".

Sept 2013: I insist on a bilateral mastectomy anyway. Too nervewracking to let left breast remain with higher risk after 3 cancers in right, nipple in right is already gone anyhow.

Sept 18, 2013: Bilateral mastectomy, 11 right nodes removed, ALL negative BUT -- ER+/PRO+/HER2+ tumor, 1.0 cm, Grade 2 found in a piece of "grossly unremarkable" breast tissue from prophylactic mastectomy of left breast, no nodes removed.

Oct 25, 2013: 13 left side nodes removed, ALL negative, Stage 1 across the board, NO RADS needed, YAAAAY! Port also installed.

Nov 25, 2013 Begin 6 rounds TCH.

March 10, 2014 Just finished 6th and LAST Chemo today, YAAAAAY!

March 24, 2014 Echocardiogram to make sure I'm still good for Herceptin every 3 weeks.

March 31, 2014 Echo results NORMAL, first Herceptin all by itself. Now if only my eyes would stop streaming from the Taxotere ... :)

April 21, 2014 Started Arimidex and therapy for "mild" lymphedema in left hand and arm

May 2014 Therapy completed, I have sleeves and gloves for both arms, a Flexi touch lymph pump to hook up to for an hour every day, and I've become an arm bandaging expert. :)

June 2014 Begin Fosamax to prevent osteoporosis; bone scan revealed osteopenia

Nov 17, 2014 FINAL Herceptin!

Dec 4, 2014 My right thigh muscle has been extra achy for days ... I discover a blister rash cluster on the side of my right thigh while taking a shower. Port appointment cancelled until Dec 17, my doc is working me in tomorrow afternoon to see me and the rash. My muscle at least feels less achy.

Dec 5, 2014 Yep, I have shingles. Boo! I start acyclovir and also have a prescription for a painkiller just in case for over the weekend.

Dec 17, 2014 Port is OUT!

January 2016 Shingles again and this time it started where my left breast (where the hidden HER2+++ tumor was!) used to be. My onc nurse got me a same day appointment to see my doc when I called and told her I had a rash on the site. The antiviral meds are working once again, though, so that is good news. :)

Jen,

I think this is a wonderful idea! Kudos to you! Your mother was a great lady. I had the pleasure of meeting her in San Antonio. She was gracious and brave. Long may her memory be honored!

Re: Tip Toe2

Carol Ann,
I can, but I do hope someone newer to our gang wants her. For those who may not know of TipToe and her history here on Her2Support, she was quite the world traveler in her day! She went to a member's home where she was treated to all sorts of pampering and travels. Members (so much more clever and creative than me!) took photos of her at spas getting her claws done, traveling to various sites throughout the world, enjoying new little outfits. It was really entertaining to see the cute photos posted by the members. I cannot even figure how to post a photo on this site, but those gals sure did! TipToe made merry among us brightening our posts with some old fashioned fun and served to solidify our camaraderie. She was a great ambassador for Her2Support.

PS. If someone can instruct me on how to post a photo on this site, please enlighten me! I want to post a photo of my new kitty, Yuki (beautiful and very spoiled already!), but cannot seem to do it!

Re: Tip Toe2

I am now ready to proceed with this project. After I posted this initially I had a series of life events that stopped me in my tracks. For those of you who don’t know the story of Tip Toe she is a Beanie Baby and a mascot of the website she is a Chinese Hamster who sacrificed her her ovaries for decades to develop a life saving drug in which Herceptin is derived from. I don’t know where the “original Tip Toe is but it’s my goal to continue this tradition. My beloved Mother who was a member of this site enjoyed Tip Toes Company and I would LOVE for you to do the same. Send me a message if you are interested I will send her to you with a notebook and album and then you can send her off to the next participant wanting to continue this tradition.
Love Jenn

Re: Tip Toe2

Hey gang I just wanted you to know that I have not forgotten about you or the Tiptoe 2 project I was finally able to take her to the cemetery where she got to spend time with our beloved member and friend Sheila. As soon as I can get a job going I will be able to buy a photo album and journal so everyone that wants her to visit can add pictures and document her journey before they pass her off to the next survivor. Thanks for your patience and let me know if you’re interested.

Unhappy Re: Tip Toe2

For those of you who are wondering about TipToe and if she ever began her rounds I have sad news.

Jen passed away on New Years Eve 2021. I only know it was something sudden, but do not have any details. She is now RIP with her precious mother Sheila.
