I had an opportunity to meet with former friends last January whom we had not seen in several years--stayed in touch but since we relocated 17 years ago had only seen a few times. They brought me a gift--of kefir--liquid yogurt that was home-made, along with all the parapharnalia to do it myself. Coincidentally, we had met earlier in the day with a radiologist who reviewed latest CT scan and had told us that best cancer prevention (maintenance?) diet was macrobiotic. After that meeting I was thinking of going macrobiotic until these friends gave me the kefir. I have been preparing it daily and do wonder if it has had some positive effects. I take it for 20 days and then, although I still prepare it daily, stop taking it for 10 days. Oh, and I forgot to mention that it was given to them by their Chinese opthalmologist who told them of its anti-cancer properties, and she (M.D.) along with her mother, consumes it in the above-described manner.
