More than 5 years on Femera Ontario ladies?

I am another Ontario girl. I have only been on Tamoxifen for a year and a half. My oncologist has talked about switching me back and forth between Tamoxifen and something else (sorry can't remember at the moment). I got the impression he wanted me to stay on some type of anti-hormonal for a long, long time. I heard about the study saying that 10 years is better than 5 but I am not convinced yet. It is just one study and I also heard that the makers of anti-estrogen meds funded this study. I have not had a chance to look into this to confirm if it is true, but I am hoping by the time I reach my 5 years that there will be more studies to give me a better idea of what to do. These medications all have their own side-effects and risks, so if I am going to stay on them, I better be sure it is worth it! I would be interested to know how it all turns out for you. Good luck! My oncologist called my cancer metastic (although I was never officially staged by him....does that make it 4?) and considered me high risk for recurrance. I had a number of lumps (from the radiation) which he had biopsied and other little things so when my 5 years was up he agreed to keep me on the drug for another year. It was an easy discussion and I didn't insisted but was relieved to continue at that point. Then after 6 years he suggested we stop these treatments. Early on I had been put on actonel after my bone density scans showed depletion and referred to a bone specialist who continues to follow me. I think they both wanted me to have a break from these drugs. After my 7th year my oncologist referred me back to my md. I don't know what he would have done if this information about tamoxifen had been available. I know that deep in my mind I will always likely be waiting for a recurrance or some new cancer. I have this thought that at around 10 years I will ask for a total body ct scan, then again at ..... lol....
