You know what's weird? Several years ago I started eating celery. I always liked it but started loving it. MDH asked me not to put it in everything as he prefers not to have it in every salad. I find this odd. Oh well, at least it has something in it. Maybe the body naturally tells you what you need.

Found lump via BSE
Diagnosed 8/04 at age 45
1.9cm tumor, ER+PR-, Her2 3+(rt side)
2 micromets to sentinel node
Stage 2A
left 3mm DCIS - low grade ER+PR+Her2 neg
lumpectomies 9/7/04
4DD AC followed by 4 DD taxol
Used Leukine instead of Neulasta
35 rads on right side only
4/05 started Tamoxifen
Started Herceptin 4 months after last Taxol due to
trial results and 2005 ASCO meeting & recommendations
Oophorectomy 8/05
Started Arimidex 9/05
Finished Herceptin (16 months) 9/06
Arimidex Only
Prolia every 6 months for osteopenia

NED 18 years!

Mum Diagnosed: 11/11/2011 (Left breast CA)
Age: 59yrs

Lumpectomy done: 23/11/2011 (Tumour 1.2cm, Grade 2, 2 nodes removed. All negative)
Results: ER+, PR+, HER2 +++
Started treatment: RADS on 20/12/2011 (Finished on 02/02/12)
Will be going onto Femara for 5 years and receive once in 3 weeks Herceptin for 1 year.

I found this exciting news as this drug (psoralen) breaks through the inner core by disrupting DNA replication and causing cell death when activated by an energy source such as UV light.
“Cancer drugs can recognize HER2 receptors when they are outside of the cell, but they don’t recognize the truncated version inside the cell nucleus. They have shown that psoralen is effective in targeting this other form of HER2 that is resistant to current HER2-targeted therapies.” I hope they have some clinical trails soon! They need to figure out how to get the UV light to the inner core of the HER2 positive cancer cell!!!
